What makes a strong Architecture Intern resume?

For aspiring architecture interns, a compelling resume showcases a foundational understanding of design principles and technical skills. Hiring managers look for concrete evidence of project contributions, often from academic coursework or competitions, demonstrating proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and the Adobe Creative Suite. Highlighting achievements like managing specific design phases, developing detailed renderings, or contributing to sustainable design initiatives, alongside any relevant certifications, signals a candidate’s practical capabilities and readiness for the role.

Why this example works

The provided example effectively structures these crucial elements, making it easy for recruiters to quickly grasp a candidate’s potential. Achievements are clearly quantified, such as “modeled X urban blocks” or “drafted Y schematic layouts,” emphasizing impact rather than just tasks. Skills are logically grouped, separating technical software proficiencies from design competencies like model making and visualization. Furthermore, the summary concisely articulates career aspirations and key qualifications, immediately positioning the applicant as a suitable fit for an architecture intern role.
