What makes a strong Proofreader resume?

US median salary $67,440 ·

For an entry-level Proofreader in Media and Entertainment, especially within Design (UX/UI), hiring managers seek a nuanced understanding beyond basic grammar. They look for meticulous attention to UI text, microcopy, and on-screen elements, ensuring brand voice consistency across digital products. Concrete expectations include familiarity with design terminology like kerning or wireframes, and the ability to apply specific style guides. Achievements might highlight reducing errors in user flows or maintaining linguistic clarity across multiple platform interfaces.

Why this example works

The example CV excels by structuring relevant experience for this specialized role. It effectively quantifies achievements, such as “Reviewed UI text for 5+ mobile applications” or “Ensured linguistic consistency across 3 major product launches.” Skills are thoughtfully grouped to showcase proficiency in both editorial tools, like specific style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, internal brand guides), and relevant design tools for feedback, such as Figma or Adobe XD. This clear delineation immediately communicates a candidate’s practical capabilities.
