Tailored resumes are 6x more likely to get interviews than generic ones, based on research from TalentWorks. Yet most people send the same CV to every job because tailoring manually is tedious. You need to decode the job description, rewrite your summary, reorder bullets, adjust skills, and maybe write a cover letter. That's 15-20 minutes per application, if you're fast.

We built a way to do it in under 2 minutes.

JobSprout's job role tailoring lets you paste a job description, extracts everything the employer is looking for, tailors your entire CV, and generates a matching cover letter. You see every change before accepting it.

Here's how it works.

Step 1: Paste a Job Description

Start from any CV in your dashboard. Click Tailor to Job Role and paste the job description text. JobSprout's AI reads the posting and extracts the structured role details: company name, job title, required skills, seniority level, industry, and key responsibilities.

This is the same analysis you'd do manually when decoding a job description for keyword matching and ATS alignment. The difference is it takes seconds instead of minutes.

Paste a job description and JobSprout extracts the role details automatically

You can review and edit the extracted role before proceeding. If the AI missed something or you want to emphasise a particular skill, adjust it here.

Step 2: One-Click Tailoring with Diff Preview

Once the job role is extracted, hit Tailor CV. The AI rewrites your professional summary, reorders and adjusts your experience bullets, updates your skills section, and aligns your language to match what the employer asked for. All based on your actual experience, not hallucinated content.

The key part: you see every change in a word-level diff preview. Additions are highlighted in green, removals in red. Nothing changes on your CV until you explicitly accept it. You can accept all changes at once, or reject ones you disagree with.

Word-level diff preview shows exactly what changed and why

This is the workflow that turns 15 minutes of manual tailoring into a 2-minute process. Your voice stays intact because the AI is refining your existing content, not replacing it with generic filler. If something feels off, reject that change and move on. For more on why AI-assisted beats AI-generated, see our take on using ChatGPT for resume writing.

Step 3: Generate a Matching Cover Letter

The same extracted job role feeds directly into cover letter generation. Click Generate Cover Letter and JobSprout creates a cover letter that tells a consistent story with your newly tailored CV. Same company, same role, same language.

The cover letter uses your CV profile as context, so it references your actual achievements and experience. No generic "I am writing to express my interest" filler. You can edit the result with the AI Writer or manually, then export as a professionally typeset PDF.

What the AI Actually Changes

To be specific about what happens during tailoring, here's what the AI touches and why:

Section	What Changes	Why
Summary	Rewritten to lead with the target role's priorities and language	Summaries are the #1 section recruiters scan first. 63% want them tailored
Experience bullets	Reordered and rephrased to mirror the job description's terminology	An ATS ranks on term matches, so the words the advert uses are the words to use back
Skills	Reordered to prioritise skills mentioned in the posting	Easy ATS win. See our skills section guide
Tone and language	Adjusted to match the employer's vocabulary (e.g., "demand generation" instead of "marketing")	Mirroring language signals alignment without fabricating experience

What it does not change: your job titles, dates, company names, or any factual information. Tailoring is about presentation, not fabrication.

Why Transparency Matters

Most AI resume tools are black boxes. You paste a job description, click a button, and get back a completely rewritten resume. You have no idea what changed or why.

That's a problem. Recruiters view fully AI-generated content negatively, and if you can't explain your own resume in an interview, it shows.

JobSprout's diff preview exists for exactly this reason. You see every word that changed. You understand why. You accept or reject each change. The result is a resume that's genuinely yours, just better aligned to the role.

The Full Workflow

Here's the complete process, start to finish:

Open your CV in JobSprout (or create one for free)
Click "Tailor to Job Role" and paste the job description
Review the extracted role details. Edit if needed
Click "Tailor CV" and review the word-level diff
Accept or reject changes
Generate a cover letter from the same job role
Export both as professionally typeset PDFs

That's 2 minutes instead of 20. For every application.

Over a job search of 30-50 applications, that's the difference between spending 10+ hours on tailoring or spending under 2 hours and getting 6x more interview callbacks.
